Gross Negligence / Death

A lawsuit was filed in federal court in Houston for the family of a deceased oilfield worker who died from a fire in his living quarters in Equitorial Guinea, Africa.  The case was a gross negligence wrongful death suit against the deceased workers employer.  Despite numerous legal hurdles imposed by the Texas Supreme Court, BN secured a confidential settlement which insures the financial security for the rest of the family's lives.

Premises Security

A young female was abducted from her apartment after multiple complaints to management regarding faulty window locks. She was found alive in a field after being raped. Claims were filed in Galveston County District Court against the apartment complex and its Colorado parent corporation. A confidential settlement provided lifetime benefits for the child.

Nursing Home / Double Death

A husband and wife who were in the care of a Galveston County nursing home died within one month of each other as a result of negligent care. The case was filed in Galveston County District Court. After a successful Stowers action, the case settled for excess of policy limits including five (5) policy and procedure changes in the nursing home.

Negligence / Failed Real Estate Transaction & Breach of Fiduciary Duty

A Taiwanese business man entered a contract with the City of Texas City to build a theme park on the Texas City Dike. A condition precedent involved a wire transfer to be handled by Moody National Bank and escrowed with Stewart Title. The wire transfer was "lost' and resulted in the business deal failing. Claims were made against Moody National Bank and Stewart Title in Galveston County District Court which resulted in a verdict in favor of our client.

Negligence / Construction Defect - Death

While leaving a neighbors house, the Plaintiff fell to his death as a result of a faulty stairway. A lawsuit was filed in Galveston County Probate Court against the original builder of the home alleging the handrails and risers were in noncompliance with the Southern Building Code and local ordinances. A settlement was reached regarding the wrongful death and survival actions.
